New standards in sealing technology for the Hong Kong tunnel

The longest and deepest underwater road tunnel ever built in Hong Kong will run between the western New Territories and Lantau Island. The objective of the construction project was to design and build the two-lane Tuen Mun - Chek Lap Kok tunnel with a length of about 5 km at a depth of 50 m below sea level and the associated reclamation of about 16.5 ha of land.
